February 12, 2017: The Longest Love Story in History (and in Movies)

The Greatest Love of All

(The Longest Love Story in History Part 1)

This week we want to explore the love between Christ (the Bridegroom) and the Church (the Bride). It is the love from which all other love derives. It is the love that we all truly desire, whether we realize it or not. It is the greatest love of all.

The love between Christ and the Church is woven throughout scripture, from Genesis to Revelation and we will look at the beautiful poetic book about the love between a man and a woman called the Song of Songs. Many of us are familiar with this book but did you know you can see the love shared between Christ and the Church in there?

Why the Song of Songs? What is the purpose of the book?

Seeing the Love Story (Christ and His Bride) in the Movies

The Notebook

A poor yet passionate young man falls in love with a rich young woman, giving her a sense of freedom, but they are soon separated because of their social differences, although he never loses his desire for her. He draws her back to himself through renovating a house with her in mind. The young woman will have to choose between freedom (with one man) and the acceptance of the world (with another man).

The Legend of Tarzan

It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge. But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash, especially once they kidnap Jane.
