Listener Questions:

Do we believe in a literal heaven and are we excited about going there?

Song of Songs:

Faltering Love (2:8-3:5)

The King comes in Resurrection Life: bounding over the mountains. Yet, there is a wall between them. The maiden thinks it is a good thing; she calls it their wall, but the King is calling her out from behind her wall and out upon the mountains with Him.

How does the maiden begin to experience Resurrection Life with her King?

Listen! My beloved! Behold, he is coming,Climbing on the mountains,

Leaping on the hills!

9 “My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he is standing behind our wall, He is looking through the windows, He is peering through the lattice.

Christ is alive! It is the beginning of a new day in which all obstructions are put under his feet. All hindrances of flesh, time and the enemy are under his feet.  How do we live this as a reality??

Allowing the Lord to guide and lead her/us away beyond her/our confines of her/our walls.

  • Learn to trust the lord
  • Learn to exercise faith
  • Learn to follow the Lord as he leaps over the mountains and skip upon the hills
  • Learn not to rely on merely her “feeling” of the Lord’s presence

It’s out of fear that we put up walls so the things we are afraid of won’t disturb our happiness.

This is a false sense of rest and happiness-we have created it and it is usually from a source of fear. We are trying to self protect/preserve.

  • I’ll lose my job
  • I’ll get sick
  • Something will happen to my loved ones
  • The wrong person is president
  • Not being a good enough christian
  • Deal with difficult people

No matter what the circumstances, you can trust and believe in the ever abiding presence of the LORD.  We are not bound by our feelings/fear of bad things happening.

He is bringing us into HIS REST-true rest, eternal rest that is not disturbed by our mind will or emotions or circumstances. It is not fearful of what might happen.

  1. Just on the listener’s question regarding heaven, I would like to share some thoughts.
I heard a preacher mention that, “many Christians want to go to heaven, but don’t want God to be there.” mmm
That was a very sobering thought at that time and made me realize, “do I want to get to heaven or do I want to get to God”. Graciously the Lord has drawn us closer as our focus became Him.

Just something that we were reading yesterday which I believe will benefit all, an insert from T.A. Sparks below.

When you come to the book of the Revelation, you are right in the spiritual side of that whole kingdom of God. What I want to point out in connection with the spiritual interpretation of the book of the Revelation is this. In the first place, you have to recognize that the kingdom of God is a very great dominion, but that it is divided up into many regions. You find yourself, in different places in the book of the Revelation, in different places where the throne is governing. There is the earth and there is the heaven, but you speak about earth and heaven as though it were a duality. It is not; it is a multiplicity. There are heavens and heaven of heavens. Paul said he was caught up into the third heaven (2 Cor. 12:2). So heaven has various regions, departments, sections — upper, lower, perhaps middle.

And then you come to this remarkable thing, that the redeemed are also divided up into sections in different places. The Lord Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many abiding-places” (John 14:2). (Get rid of that word “mansions”. There are not streets of mansions — at any rate, that is not what He referred to.) “In my Father’s house are MANY abiding-places”. There is the first heaven, second heaven, third heaven, heaven of heavens, and people are located accordingly, in relation to the throne. There is this company right in the throne. There is that company around the throne. There is another company and another. The nations, redeemed nations, on the outer circle deriving values, now not good and evil, but deriving their good from what is there in the centre. The kingdom of the heavens is plural, not singular.

From a book “Followers of the Lamb” chapter 4

Yes I believe there are heavens literally, because it is just the surrounding of where the Lord is, because of His glorious magnificence, heaven is around Him, not the other way round.
