April 30, 2017: The One New Humanity: The Immense Significance of Jesus Christ

An Entirely Different Humanity

The Seeing of Jesus Our Lord

“I believe that there is nothing lovelier, deeper, more sympathetic, more rational, more manly, and more perfect than the Saviour; I say to myself with jealous love that not only is there no one else like Him, but that there could be no one. I would even say more: If anyone could prove to me that Christ is outside the truth, and if the truth really did exclude Christ, I should prefer to stay with Christ and not with truth.” -F. Dostoyevsky (1854)

The church’s first problem: Her Christ is much too small. She has not seen the Immense Significance of Christ.

The church’s second problem: She has no idea who she is. She is a new humanity. She is Christ corporate.

“Dear friends, the Church of Jesus Christ is not an ‘it.’ It is not a system of teaching. It is not something ecclesiastical. It is not an institution. (Oh, I thank God for the day when He showed me this.) The Church is a Person and That Person is Jesus Christ in corporate expression.” -T. Austin-Sparks

  1. I just found your radio program a few weeks ago and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate you all. This was a powerful episode, everything that you all said resonates with me deeply. I know it is the Spirit that has revealed this. I was actually brought to some tears during the Adele song, I don’t know much about her or if she is even spiritual, but the exposition of Christ in this song is so powerful. The song even has the feeling of an old gospel song! Not only was I overwhelmed by the picture of Christ, I think part of my tears are a grief of sorts that so many Christians don’t really know Him. Hearing you all talk of Him is what I long to experience in a local Body.

    1. Thank you for listening to the radio program and taking the time to leave such a touching and encouraging comment. Yes, I would agree with you that the Lord also longs to be truly known by his bride, his body the church. Once you see Him, it does create a longing to be a part of and experience Him in his body. It’s a different or expanded way of knowing Him as a corporate man. Again thanks for listening and we’re glad you were encouraged.

    2. Amen, sister! I agree with Carrie (who agrees with you) that the Lord desires to be known. The passion behind this program is for saints to come to know Him more. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us; it means a lot!
