  • Of note, looking back over the past few years and what has influenced me, I see a pattern forming: all my influences include other people – a body. I would listen to the messages on cd (yes, I’m that old) with my wife and others. I attended the Houston Conference with others. I read the books with others (wife, brothers). I read and share SparkNasty with others. Body Life only happens with others. Working and sharing life with Milt…with others! What a corporate Christ!

What are some books and who are some people that have influenced you to know Christ more? We’d love to read about them in the comments!

  1. Greetings saints,

just listened to the “Our Influences” podcast, love the relaxed atmosphere you have there and the sharing of influences, I totally resonate with those influences, two in particular have make a huge impact on my life; Jon Zens who I have known for nearly 15 years and Frank Viola who is a mentoring me on the DCLN and I have known of his ministry around the same amount of time.

Really appreciate you all and what you are doing with this ministry and I pray the Lord will make smooth your paths and bless you all abundantly.

    by His grace

    Andrew.

    1. Thank you so much, Andrew! We, too, have been heavily influenced by Jon and Frank and are on the DCLN as well! =)

  2. Thank you for sharing your influences! I am looking forward to checking out the ones new to me. I recommend a book called “Beholding and Becoming” by Jerry Coulter. I found it in Manfred Hallers book on a list in the back. I believe it is out of print as I’ve only found it used. It’s become a friend to me (if you know what I mean). I love you all and I’m so grateful you are continuing to share! -Carla

  3. Thank you, Carla! We looked Beholding and Becoming up at our meeting last night and it looks awesome! I’m sure one of us will get it and then we’ll share it amongst ourselves. =)

  4. Haven’t listened to this episode yet (I just became familiar with you all, so I’m in February catching up) but looking at the lists, I can resonate. In my walk I’ve been really impacted by “Radical” by David Platt and most recently by “Unchurching: Christianity without Churchianity” by Richard Jacobson, “Sit Stand Walk” by Watchman Nee and “Finding Organic Church” by Frank Viola

  5. After listening to this episode, I added some of the books to my wish list on Amazon. One of those was “Unoffendable.” The Lord has been working on me about my touchiness recently. Yesterday, I received an email from Amazon saying this e-book had been reduced in price. The Lord’s timing was perfect. This is exactly what I needed! Thanks for sharing your lists.
